Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in Erie. I graduated from Fort Le Boeuf High School and attended Indiana University of PA and Edinboro University where I received a B.A Degree in Theater and Communication Media. I am married with a 17 year old son who attends General McLane High School. I also have an 11 year old Jack Russell that pretty much hates everyone except for me.
What interested you most about becoming an Employment Specialist?
I love working with students. I have worked in higher education, specifically Student Affairs, for the last 22 years. It's great to watch students achieve their education goals. I want to be there to give them encouragement along the way. If it's to meet with them in Career Services or just a word of advice and a smile in the hallway, I hope to make things a little easier for them during their time at school.
What benefits can the EIT Career Services department provide an employer?
Employers can come straight to Career Services without advertising their job openings. This definitely saves the company time and money.
What advice would you give graduates looking to find work in their field?
Utilize the services that you have here at EIT. Many schools don't offer placement, or other services that EIT provides. Try not to get discouraged and frustrated when applying for jobs. It's not always easy and things may not always fall into your lap, but keep at it, and eventually something will come along.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I am in a theater performing on stage either acting or singing or both. I have been involved in theater and music my entire life, so chances are that's where you will find me when I am not at work. I also love watching my son run cross country and track and just enjoy watching him grow up.
