“I look at EIT graduates very seriously when I’m hiring.”

Barry Sharp, owner. Minuteman Press, Erie, PAMinuteman Press International was once again rated the #1 Printing ranchise in the printing industry by Entrepreneur Magazine (January, 2008).In my shop, I need somebody that’s versatile; that likes to speak to people; is well-rounded and can perform right away and go to work.   They need to be somewhat artistic, but still has a production mentality.

We do graphic design and printing for businesses and individuals. Responsibilities are split between graphic design, digital printing, production — which is something that can happen very quickly — and pre-press for our offset press.

I need an individual with strong interpersonal skills who can handle the walk-in traffic as well as the phone. Additionally, they’ve got to be very capable in Adobe and Microsoft programs that we use day-in and day-out. But they’ve also got to be able to accept challenges with different programs that they might run into.

I look at EIT graduates very seriously when I’m hiring for graphic design, because they’re very well educated in the different software programs we utilize: Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite. Additionally, I find that through their externship programs they’ve been in the real world office environment and they’re well prepared and interested in diving into their first job.

I need people that are ready to produce!
