Erie Institute of Technology graduates can apply credits towards an Edinboro University degree

Erie Institute of Technology graduates now have the option to enroll in Edinboro University’s Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program. Upon completion of their coursework at EIT, students may transfer up to 23 credits towards the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program.

Students completing one of the following programs at Erie Institute of Technology will receive credits towards this degree: Electronic Engineering Technology; Electronics Technician; Biomedical Equipment Technology; Industrial Automation and Robotics Technology; CNC/Machinist Technician; Maintenance Technician; Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology; and Welding Technology.

The student will then earn an Associate of Engineering Technology Degree from Edinboro University. The A.E.T. in Manufacturing Engineering Technology is a two year program that trains the student to work as a technician in the manufacturing environment. Topics covered in the curriculum include basic machining processes, engineering graphics, computer aided design (CAD), rapid prototyping, quality control, strength of materials, as well as a number of elective areas such as CNC machines and robotics.

Erie Institute of Technology is located at the Millcreek Mall in a building with over 40,000 square feet. The facility features a large manufacturing bay, specialty labs, and classrooms. EIT is licensed by the Private License School Board and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).

Erie Institute of Technology was founded in 1958 as A.T.E.S. Technical School and renamed Erie Institute of Technology in 1976. In 1986, it was authorized by the Department of Education of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to award the Associate in Specialized Technology Degree for Electronic Engineering Technology.

In 2001, EIT was purchased by Erie developer Rick Griffith. Electronics training programs were expanded to include Electronics Engineering Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, and Industrial Automation and Robotics. Computer programs were added to include Network and Database Professional, Business Office Professional, and Multimedia Graphic Design. In addition manufacturing programs were added: CNC Machining, Maintenance Technician, RHVAC, Welding, and Electrician.

Edinboro University is the region’s largest and most comprehensive institution of higher education. The University offers more than 100 degree programs and 52 academic minors at its 585 acre main campus located in Edinboro, and satellite campuses in Meadville and Erie, PA.

US News and World Report has named Edinboro as one of the top institutions in the nation for students who graduate with the least amount of debt. Wired magazine ranks the institution as one of the most technologically advanced university campuses in the United States. Edinboro University is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
